Helping You Protect Your Family When You're Here

Our mission is to help, educate, and serve families across the State of Connecticut with their estate planning needs. We have connections with qualified attorneys in almost every State, so we can also assist with second homes and other property outside of Connecticut.

We don’t believe in “cookie cutter” solutions. We’re committed to learning about the unique goals and desires of every client so that we can provide customized solutions which match their needs.

We teach our clients about the law, and they teach us about their families and intentions, so our work is done in a true partnership. We love our long-term relationships with our clients, many of whom participate in our C.A.R.E. program, who we enjoy seeing year after year.

We Educate, You Decide

Estate Planning Law Center, LLC concentrates on estate planning and probate matters, and everything reasonably related to those areas. First, we emphasize the need to protect one’s self during life, which is often overlooked, by having well written Health Care Powers of Attorney, Financial Powers of Attorney, HIPAA document, Living Will, Designation of Conservator, and Docubank Cards.

We provide services for those growing older, or with disabilities, including Elder Law, Title 19 Applications, Conservatorships, VA benefits, and more.

Finally, we assist in effectively transferring assets upon death through Wills, Trusts, Domestic Asset Protection Trusts, and other Irrevocable Trusts. We periodically hold public and private seminars on a variety of financial topics to both the public and financial professionals.

What Does Your Estate Planning Process Look Like?

We have a 3 part process that ensures all of our clients’ estate planning goals are met. First, we have a Discover Meeting where we learn about your family, hopes and desires. Then we’ll have a Design meeting to start to discuss the estate planning options that will best meet your goals, and draft a preliminary outline. We’ll then draft a summary written in plain English which we’ll send you so you can review in the comfort of your own home. After you’ve had a chance to think about where we are, and any changes you’d like to make, we’ll have a Clarity Call to fine tune the earlier work. We will repeat that process as many times as needed to be sure we have 100% met your needs. Finally, we’ll schedule a Fulfillment meeting to do a final review and sign all of the documents in the Plan.

How Are You Different Than Other Estate Planning Firms?

We pride ourselves on listening carefully to our clients, and learning enough about their families, their goals and desires, so that we can craft a personalized plan that fits your needs. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all estate plan – your family deserves a customized plan created just for you. Our approach will eliminate headaches and minimize the chance of unwanted consequences such as having to go through probate, will save money in the long run, and will assure your privacy to the maximum amount permitted by law. Our practice is geared toward people that want and understand the importance of high quality estate planning. We enjoy educating our clients about the process of estate planning and helping them make informed decisions that will help meet your goals and desires. If you are looking for this kind of long-term personalized service, please call us to get started on an estate plan that will help you sleep at night knowing you have cared for your family after death in the same thoughtful way you have done during your lifetime.

What Happens After I Sign My Plan?

We offer 3 types of ongoing maintenance of your estate plan after it is signed. For a nominal annual fee, due by January 15 of the year following your Fulfillment Meeting, you will have the opportunity to join our C.A.R.E. program (Continuing Annual Review Experience). There are 3 levels – C.A.R.E. Lite is offered at no cost for the 1st year and can be continued indefinitely for a minimal cost – it includes limited phone calls at no charge, and updating of your POAs. C.A.R.E. is the next level, and includes more benefits. Finally, C.A.R.E. Plus is our concierge level ongoing maintenance program with still more benefits and advantages. If you choose not to join C.A.R.E. , we will, of course, continue to be available to you on an as-needed basis at our regular hourly rates.

Is Disability Included in an Estate Plan?

Many law firms offer “typical” estate plans which include a Will and a Health Care Power of Attorney. There’s nothing wrong with that but, unfortunately, a Will does not take effect until after death so it cannot, by its very nature, include disability planning. A Health Care Power of Attorney gives an agent the power to make decisions but does not give any instruction to that agent as to how to exercise the power. We believe disability planning is critically important to a comprehensive estate plan. At our Firm, we spend quite a bit of time talking about how our clients can protect themselves and prepare for their own future disability so that our clients can enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that they will be well cared for no matter what.

Do I Really Need an Estate Plan?

Well, the best way to answer that is by asking a few questions – do you care who will raise your minor children if you pass? Do you care who gets your property when you die? Do you want to protect the inheritance you leave to your loved ones from creditors? Between one-half and two-thirds of American adults don’t have a will, so you’ll be in good company if you do nothing. But do you need an Estate Plan? If you answered “yes” to any of the questions above, then the answer is a resounding YES.
